Hello, and welcome to my site! Thanks for visiting
My journalism background:
I grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago, where I attended elementary school through high school. I started out in journalism by taking a photo class (yes, we developed black and white film). Sophomore year, I started shooting photos for the school newspaper. I became a photo editor my junior year of high school and began writing, too. During my junior year, it became apparent that my title for senior year would be Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning newspaper. I fell in love with journalism in high school and planned on pursuing this field as my career in college. I graduated with a BS in News-Editorial Journalism and a minor in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Spring 2010.
I thoroughly enjoy writing, editing and being a part of both online and in-person communities. Building websites also intrigues me, as I love learning HTML and CSS. With my background in freelancing for local papers, being a web producer at the Tribune Company and having other positions in the media/communications field, I truly love coming up with new, innovative ideas to help organizations grow.
